100 Quilts for Kids

Katie at http://swimbikequilt.com for the past couple of years hosts a quilt charity drive called

100 Quilts for Kids.

During July 1 - Sept 30 all you have to do is make a quilt for a child.
Donate that quilt or quilts to a local charity of your choice.
Link up pictures of your donated quilt or quilts Sept 28- 30 on her blog
For your donation you will be eligible for prizes.
And who doesn't like prizes.
Can't make a quilt, sign up to be a sponsor.

I've made it pretty simple, but really that's all there is to it.

This Thursday is the 4th of July.
We do not do any thing special  just an extra day off from work. Maybe cook burgers on the grill.
My disabled husband doesn't get out of the house often and fireworks are too loud for Stevie, so just and a extra day off from work for me.
I have a pattern picked out, "easy as pie" a free pattern by Amanda Jean at

I have some great red and turquoise fabric that I bought a couple of years ago,
can't remember why because that's generally not my colors.

This Thursday I plan to piece and quilt 2 girl quilts.
Think I can do it?  I hope so.

Now what charity will I choose?
The Down Syndrome Assoc of Middle Tennessee.

I believe it was 2011 I , along with the Sewing Sister at http://confessionsofafabricaddit.com
and a few blog buddies made quilts for the Down Syndrome Assoc and they loved them.
We (the Assoc) have a new director and she contacted me a coupe of months ago about making more.
She told me when she meets new parents of Down syndrome babies they are so touched when she hands them a quilt.
So if you would like to join in the fun but don't have a charity in mind and
would like to donate your quilt to the Down syndrome Assoc please contact me.

Here is a picture from the donations last time.
Help me if you can, brighten the life of a Down syndrome child.
